So long, and thanks.
For me it started at breakfast, during a break in Cold Wars '04. Subodai had a dream of building a community for the Armati players where new armies could be developed, new ideas worked through, and Armati revitalized. He had seen Armati flourish and fade and felt deeply enough about the players to provide a communal gathering point.
At it's depth, the main Armati tournaments had three or four players. Subodai's efforts brought more than three dozen players from four countries. All under one roof, all playing one game. He revitalized the Renaissance play, carved out space while other games systems were also growing, and used his considerable influence to keep the Armati presence vital.
There are probably many reasons why War Flute is closing. Without recrimination, let's hope that whomever comes after will be able to learn from our challenges.
